A newly established power sub-station has enabled 102 factories to resume production  at the Ali Sher Nawai industrial park in northern Balkh province.

According to the Afghanistan Investment Support Agency (AISA), the sub-station is installed at a total cost of USD 1 million.

AISA chief Qurban Haqjo said of the 116 factories in the industrial, 102 factories had stopped operations due to lack of electricity, and the remaining were using their own electricity over the past few years.

Haqjo said his office would present a list of problems facing the traders at the Ali Sher Nawai industrial at Thursday’s Cabinet meeting.

Some of the problems he highlighted were lack of infrastructure, roads, canalization and professional works.
