Afghan Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) has launched vaccination campaign against the brucellosis disease in animals.
The drive would commence in all provinces on Friday and Minister Mohammad Asif Rahimi asked the people to bring their animals to clinics or mobile vaccination teams for vaccination.
As many as 2.6mn livestock would be vaccinated in all 34 provinces of the country within a month.
The USD 1.5mn project is funded by the World Bank and the Ministry’ s budget, said Mr. Rahimi.
“The disease can be spread to humans through drinking half-boiled milk or eating half-cooked meat,” said Mr. Rahimi.
Such campaigns would be conducted every year over the next six years.
