Afghan Agriculture Ministry distributes irrigation tools in Northern provinces

Afghan Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) has distributed 388 sets of irrigation tools free of cost among farmers in Northern provinces.

The project is part of the National Horticulture and Livestock Productivity Projects which serves to promote adoption of improved production practices by target farmers, with gradual rollout of farmer-centric agricultural services systems and investment support.

Ahmad Fahim Jabbari, the project coordinator, told Pajhwok Afghan News (PAN) that 75 sets of irrigation tools had been distributed to the farmers in Balkh, 96 in Jawzjan, 55 in Samangan, 80 in Faryab, and 100 in Sar-i-Pul province to farmers who were facing with difficulties in irrigating of their farmlands.

The farmers could not afford irrigation equipment and they are hopeful that the new tools would help save money and time of those working in their fields.
