Afghan Chamber of Commerce and Industries Emphasis on Domestic Investment

Afghan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) officials in a press conference today  emphasized on the support and expansion of investment in the country.

Qurban Haqjo, Managing Director at ACCI, said to the press,” ACCI has accumulated and Investment Fund of worth USD 13 million to help support domestic investment in the country”.

According to Mr. Haqjo’s statement, more than USD 9 million of the Investment Fund has come in aid from Development Office of England.

The Investment Fund was initiated 6 months ago with the help of ACCI and the second round of working on the Investment Fund officially began today.

It is expected that the second round of the Investment Fund will benefit more than 5,000 families.

The purpose of the Fund is to support investment, growth, and marketing of domestic products.

Several domestic investors had complained about lack of suitable investment opportunities. According to them, corruption, insecurity, and lack of financial and political support of investors are the main factors that are dragging down the investment process.

Even though the government has stressed upon supporting investment in the country, unceasing war has taken away the courage and opportunity to invest in the country.
