Afghan foreign minister meets with his Pakistani counterpart

The 10-member Afghan delegation led by Foreign Minister Dr. Zalmai Rassoul arrived in Islamabad on Friday morning to hold bilateral talks with neighboring Pakistan.

During his rate visit, Minister Rassoul met with his Pakistani counterpart Hina Rabbani Khar

Though the talks were mostly focused on the political relations between the two nations, the two ministers touched on the economic ties as well.

Both countries said they would extend an embryonic regional free trade agreement to Tajikistan, one of Afghanistan’s northern neighbours. The hope is that transit trade running from the Pakistani sea ports on the Arabian Sea all the way to central Asia and beyond will enrich all the countries involved.
