Afghan government buys 4,000 tons of gas to stabilize prices

gas prices 2The Afghan Ministry of Commerce and Industries has purchased 4,000 tons of gas from the Oil and Gas Union in an attempt to keep prices of gas stable in the market.

This comes after gas prices had jumped to 120-150 AFN per kilo in the capital Kabul.

The Union sold liquefied gas to the Ministry for 45 AFN per kilogram.

The government has set the retail of one kilogram of gas at 60 AFN in the open market and those involved in price hiking would face penalties.
