Afghanistan to launch its first online commodity exchange market

Afghanistan will have its first online commodity exchange market in Kabul where online selling for Afghan agricultural products, gems, industrial products and handicrafts will be available.

An agreement to that effect was signed between an Afghan and Arab company on Tuesday.

The project is worth USD 20mn and is expected to be launched in a year’s time.

The purpose of the project is to promote Afghanistan’s domestic products, something that has not received much attention from the government in the past decade.

This investment will generate job opportunities to about 12,000 people in addition to expanding Afghanistan’s export market.
