Officials in the Ministry of Commerce and Industries have reported a 26% decline in Afghanistan’s fresh fruits exports in 2015.

The Ministry has cited trade issues with Pakistan as the major reason behind the slump in exports of fresh fruits.

“Exports of fresh fruits has gone down by 26% compared to last year. This is mainly due to differences in policies between Afghanistan and Pakistan,” said Spokesman to the Ministry of Commerce and industry Musafir Qoqandi.

Meanwhile, economic experts have blamed the commerce branches of both governments for having poor coordination in handling trade.

This comes after 300 lorries from Afghanistan have been stopped by the Pakistani government and are yet to receive transit permission.
