Afghanistan's Ring Road through Badghis Province

Postponed due to security concerns, the construction of a ring road through western Badghis province has restarted after five-years.

According to Badghis’ Deputy Governor Abdul Ghani Sabiri, Afghan and Pakistani insurgents were preventing the construction of this project.

The project is worth USD 400 million. About USD 50 million would be allocated for the provision of security to the project.

Deputy Public Works Minister Noor Gul Mangal said that as many as 2000 local residents will be hired as local security forces for the project.

Afghanistan’s ring road is part of the 3360km main highway project connecting 16 provinces and major cities like Kabul, Mazar, Herat, Kandahar, Ghazni and Jalalabad.
