Agriculture Ministry to establish cold storage facility in Nangarhar
Costing 160mn AFN, the facility is funded by the Afghan Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock.
Addressing the foundation stone laying ceremony, head of provincial agriculture department Eng. Mohammad Hussain Sapi said the facility would be built on five acres of land and would be completed in 2 years.
He added the storage would have the capacity to store 5,000 metric tons of vegetables.
Lack of a sufficient number of cold storage rooms has been a major concern among the Afghan farmers. Such facilities will enable cost-effective storage of surplus production and help sustain market prices of vegetables and fruits.
