Belarus and Tajikistan have agreed to promote trade and economic interests in cooperation with Afghanistan.

An agreement to that effect was reached during the meeting between Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Tajikistan Oleg Ivanov and Tajikistan Prime Minister Qohir Rasulzoda.

Both parties are willing to develop cooperation in a trilateral format with Afghanistan and promote trade and economic interests.

“The Tajikistan Prime Minister expressed interest in establishing industrial cooperation and confirmed his readiness to provide the necessary assistance in the implementation of joint projects,” states a Belarusian news source.

In a meeting with Afghanistan’s Chief Executive Officer in Istanbul on April 15, Abdullah Abdullah, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said his country was ready to take an active part in restoring Afghanistan’s economy.

Lukashenko suggested advancing Belarus-Afghanistan cooperation by signing agreements on mutual support and protection of investments.

“We are going to move in this direction. Dozens of other projects will emerge after these ones. I am confident that you will work together with us with great interest,” said the President. “Restoring your country and developing it will require everything Belarus has to offer. And we are ready for cooperation, for establishing joint enterprises, including in Afghanistan, to make the machines you will need.”

Belarus is also eager to supply agricultural machines, construction equipment, municipal and other types of vehicles to Afghanistan.

The Belarus Chamber of Commerce and Industries (BCCI) met with representatives from Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce an Industries (ACCI) in Istanbul. The Afghan delegation expressed their interest in establishing and expanding trade and economic cooperation with Belarusian businessmen in oil and gas industry, construction, manufacture of building materials, power engineering, purchases of road building equipment, personal computers and their parts, household appliances, office equipment, pharmaceuticals and medical equipment, production of plastic packaging, expert evaluation of goods, and development of IT products.
