Businesses seeing growth as election deadlock ends

unity governmentThe Afghan business community has reported increases in their sales since the day the formation of the National Unity Government was agreed upon.

The country’s economy was on the verge of collapse as political uncertainty had undermined business activities.

Dr. Abdullah Abdullah and Dr. Ashraf Ghani put an end to the protracted elections impasse by signing the political agreement for the formation of the Unity Government on Sunday.

The electoral tensions have led to a 30% budget deficit.

Afghan Finance Minister had announced that the elections deadlock had caused USD 5bn in financial loss and USD 6bn in capital flight.
