Contract for construction of Bakhshabad dam signed

The contract for construction of Badakhshan Dam in western Farah province was signed today in ARG Presidential Palace in the presence of President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani.

The dam, with a capacity of 1,360mn cutber meter reservoir, will irrigate more than 100 hectares of agricultural land.

Governor Mohamamd Asif Nang said the irrigation would cover 5 districts and the center of Farah province.

Afghanistan earlier signed a contract for the extension of Kajaki Dam in southern Helmand province.

President Ashraf Ghani had reviewed a report by the Ministry of Energy and Water on construction of 29 large, medium and small water dams during a National Procurement Commission meeting.
