Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) would soon solve the weak and inconsistent power supply problem in some of the northern provinces of Afghanistan, announced DABS CEO Abdul Razique Samadi at a press conference with the members of the lower house of the parliament on Wednesday.
According to Mr. Samadi, Maimana and Andkhoi districts of Faryab, Sar-e-Pul province and Jawzjan’s capital Sheberhan currently receive power from Turkmenistan directly through a 110Kv transmission line that is extended to more than 400km. As a result, dwellers are faced with interrupted, weak power supply.
Mr. Samadi informed that DABS has undertaken a project to strengthen the power to Jawzjan and Sar-e-Pul provinces through a 134km transmission line connected to a sub-station in Mazar. Consequently, the power supply to Faryab’s districts will automatically be strengthened.
The transmission line will be funded by DABS revenue, said Mr. Samadi.
Meanwhile, Mr. Samadi also announced that the Asian Development Bank (DAB) would implement a transmission line of 500Kv from Afghanistan-Turkmenistan border, Aqina, to Sheberghan of Jawzjan and then to Mazar.
According to Mr. Samadi, in the later stages of this project, the transmission line would be connected to Pul-e-Khumri and Kabul.
