Daikundi’s market road to be concreted soon

The 451m road inside the market of Daikundi will be concreted within 3 weeks, local officials reported.

“The project costs 1 million and 900 thousand AFN, funded by the municipality of Daikundi,” said Qurban Ali Uruzgani, governor of Daikundi.

Receiving a minimal number of reconstruction projects, Daikundi is a “forgotten” province of Afghanistan.

The proposed road is an old road inside Daikundi’s main market. No entity has been willing to fund the reconstruction of the road, due to its historic nature and being non-standard.

The municipality carried out the reconstruction of the road out of obligations, since the road was detrimental to the residents’ health. It gave rise to respiratory diseases and deterioration of foods in the stores due to the dust.

According to the local officials, dozens of people every year in this province lose their lives due to the dust and overturning of the vehicles.

Residents of the province have repeatedly accused the government for their ignorance of the conditions in Daikundi province.
