Development projects completed in Jawzjan, Nangarhar provinces
The National Solidarity Program (NSP) of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) have completed dozens of development projects in Jawzjan and Nangarhar provinces.
According to NSP Provincial Manager in Jawzjan province, the 26 projects include the construction of 2 health clinics, a school building, 3 community centers, protection walls, 248 meters long retaining walls, 1,200 meters long irrigation water canal, 9 public baths, 170 meters side ditches, drinking water canals for 6 districts and excavation 4 of drinking water wells equipped with hand pumps.
These projects are implemented at a total cost of AFN 42,765,000 with 10% contribution from the local community in Darzab, Aqhcha, Khan Aqha and khaaja do koh districts of Jawzjan province.
In Nangarhar, 149 uplift projects are executed in Batikot, Bahsod, Hisarak, Khugiany, Kot, Kuz kunar,Muhmandara, Pachir wah Agam, Rodat, Shirzad and Shinwary districts at a total cost of AFN 174,812,000.
Approximately, 9,280 families in different communities had an opportunity to gain access to basic human needs upon completion of these projects.
Since its inception in Jawzjan province, the NSP has been able to cover 512 communities for execution of 1,628 uplift projects in different sectors including transport, water and sanitation, irrigation, power, livelihoods, education, etc while the work on another is currently in progress in various communities.
According to NSP Provincial Manager in Nangarhar province, these development projects encompass the construction of 6, 849 meters long protection walls , retaining walls 4,363 meters in length, 136 meters school boundary walls, irrigation canal for the 3,870 acres of lands, water reservoir for 1,000 acres of lands, 77culverts, 3,109 meters pathway, side ditch 3,260 meters in length, excavation of 480 drinking water wells with installation of hand pumps and gravelling of 6.17 km of rural roads.
As many as 17,482 families in various communities have benefited from these projects.
Since its inception in Nangarhar province, the NSP has covered 1,850 communities and executed 5,183 development projects in different sectors including transport, water and sanitation, irrigation, power, livelihoods, education, etc while the work on another 19 is currently in progress.
