Afghan Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) is going to execute a dozen agriculture projects in capital Kabul including 14 districts of the province.
Agreements on the development projects were signed between Kabul Governor Hamid Ikram and various companies in the presence of Minister Asadullah Zamir on Monday.
“The projects, worth 24mn AFN, would be funded by the ministry,” said Minister Zamir.
The projects include irrigation of over 1,500 acres of land and campaign for saffron crop cultivation in the province.
Reconstruction of Benisar-Kabul City canal and construction of culverts in the Alambagh locality of Qarabagh are also included in the projects.
Kabul Agriculture Director Hashmatullah Enayat said the canal in Shakar Dara district would also be constructed and Zargar, Qala-i-Naw, Jalaluddin, Samochak village and Tarnab canals would be rehabilitated.
According to the official, the projects would generate work opportunities for as many as 13,000 people and would be completed in one year.
