Food Prices Escalate in Kabul

As Afghani weakens, the prices of food and other daily-use items went up during the outgoing week in Kabul.

The price of a 50-kg Brazilian flour went up by 190 afs from last week’s price. The same quantity of rice increased from 2,300 afs to 3,040afs.

A 50kg sack of Pakistani flour went up by 10 afs and is sold for 990 afs, and the price of a 5kg Koh-e-Noor ghee tin rose from 420 afs to 440 afs.

A kilo of black and green tea soared by 10 afs and sold for 200 and 170 afs respectively.

The price of gold, on the other hand, saw a decline. The price of one gram of Arabian gold dropped from 2,200 afs to 2,150 and the Iranian variety from 1,900 to 1,850.

The price for a liter of diesel remained stable at 57 afs while petrol fell by one af from 59 afs.

Gas price has remained the same as last week’s standing at 45 afs.

The exchange value of on US dollar was 51.85 compared to last week’s price at 50.80 afs . 1,000 Pakistani rupees accounted for 543 afs compared to last week’s 535 afs.
