Fuel-testing lab established at Islam Qala Port in Herat

Islam qala tankersFunded by the Afghanistan Norms and Standards Department, a USD 5mn fuel-testing laboratory has been set up at the Islam Qala Port in western Herat province.

Head of the Department, Mujibur Rahman Khateer, said the purpose of the lab is to prevent import of low-quality oil.

This comes as truckloads of substandard fuel enter Afghanistan and cause air pollution and other problems.
