Gold, petrol rates down in Kabul

jewelry shopPajhwok Afghan News Weekly Price Report-Gold and petrol prices decreased during the outgoing week in Kabul, where the rate of rice edged up, retailers said on Thursday.

The price of one gram of Arabian gold declined from 2,250 afs to 2,200 afs while the same quantity of Iranian variety sold for 1,800afs against its last week’s price of 1,900afs, said Abdul Basir, a jeweler in the Lycee-i-Maryam neighbourhood.

Similarly, the rate of one litre of petrol fell from last week’s price of 65afs to 57afs, while diesel sold for 55afs, the same as last week, said a filling station worker in the Dasht-i-Barchi area, Mohammad Hadi.

Mohammad Sharif, a retailer, said the price of gas remained unchanged at 45afs per kg. The rates of other daily-use commodities also stayed stable, but the price of rice edged up.

Haji Fazul-Rahman, the Food Traders Union chief, said a 25-kg sack of Pakistani rice rose in value from 1,650afs to 1,680afs.
