Greenhouses built for women in eastern Afghanistan

Afghan Agriculture Ministry has built 74 small greenhouses in three eastern province for women to help them eke out a livelihood.

The greenhouses will enable women in Nangarhar, Laghman and Kunar to grow vegetables in winter.

The structures were established under the Ministry’s National Horticulture and Livestock Project (NHLP), and each cost 5,000 AFN.

Project Manager Khadim Hussain Hamdam said 48 greenhouses were built in Behsud district of Nangarhar, 10 in Mehtarlam, Laghman’s capital and 16 in Asadabad, the capital of Kunar and Narang districts.

Each greenhouse was 12 meters long and three meters wide.
