Herat Airport launches its first international flight

Herat international airportHerat International Airport witnessed its first international flight from Kabul to New Delhi, India on 16 November 2013.

“We launched our first international flight today, and soon we will have our next international flight to Dubai,” said Herat Governor Sayed Fazlullah Wahidi.

Availability of international flights in Herat province was a long-standing demand of the residents who were faced with major transportation problems.

Meanwhile, Head of Safi Airways Abdul Qudos Safi thanked the local officials for their support and cooperation in expanding aviation services in the province and assured to offer international standard services to the residents.

Herat International Airport has recently been renovated and is expected to serve as the second active commercial international airport.
