Inauguration of New Building for Agriculture Faculty in Herat

A new building for agriculture faculty of Herat University was inaugurated on Wednesday by the Minister of Higher Education, Obaidullah Obaid, local officials of Herat, and Head of American Council.

Minister Obaid called the establishment of the new building for agriculture faculty of Herat University a big step towards a long term agricultural and economic development.

“In addition to the new building, two major agriculture universities will be made in the province,” added Minister Obaid.

“America has a deep and special partnership with the Faculty of Agriculture in Herat and 3 agriculture universities in the U.S. are willing to cooperate with Heart’ faculty of agriculture,” said Brad Hanson Head of America’s Council.

Officials from the agriculture faculty said that the building cost USD 6m which is covered by America’s Ministry of Defense.

The building has 5 floors and is equipped with modern standard facilities including laboratory, library, and conference hall and study rooms.

The study body is composed of 878 students of which 50% are females.

Herat University was established in 1367 and it is the second largest university after Kabul University in the country.
