“India Products Show” held in Kabul

Afghanistan’s capital city Kabul hosted the first of its kind “India Product Show” in a bid to boost economic and trade ties between the two South Asian countries.

The event, held from 02 November to 04 November in Intercontinental Hotel, was organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with India’s commerce ministry, Indian Embassy and the Kabul Chamber of Commerce and Industries.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Afghan Acting Economy Minister Abdul Hadi Arghandiwal said Afghanistan required India’s assistance as it is undergoing an economic transition.

The businessmen from India exhibited a variety of products including pharmaceutical products, medical equipment, steel products, agricultural machineries, IT and electronic products. On the other hand, Afghans showcased their dry fruits, carpets, handicrafts, gems and IT products.

The objective of the exhibition was to bring together Indian and Afghan businesses, investors and traders, policymakers, financial service providers, investors, donors and other key players to look at new avenues for business between India and Afghanistan.

India is exploring every opportunity to establish a foothold in the Afghan economy. India is currently engaged in developing Chabahar Port to provide an alternate transit route for Afghanistan and India via Iran.
