Japan and IOM to support Indra Gandhi Children Hospital in Afghanistan

indra ghandi hospitalThe International Organization for Migration (IOM) will provide medical equipments to the Indra Gandhi Children Hospital in Kabul with financial collaboration from the Japanese government.

The medical equipments, costing USD 53,000, include blood detection machine.

“We hope this assistance would contribute to the health sector of Afghanistan, where there is a high mortality rate of children and mothers,” said IOM director of migration management Irena Vojackove.

Chief of the hospital Noorulhaq welcomed the assistance and added that the hospital faced a staff shortage and needed renovations and further construction.
