Japan donates snow-clearing machines to Afghanistan

snow machinesEight snow-clearing machines have been donated to Afghanistan by the Japanese government, the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) said on Thursday.

Three of the machines have been delivered to the Ministry of Public Health and Natural Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA) at a ceremony in Kabul.

The rest of the machines are allocated to clear snow on the Salang Pass and western Ghor province.

Many areas of Afghanistan are prone to snow avalanches and have been experiencing harsh winter conditions.
