Afghanistan has witnessed a 21% increase in the export of fresh and dried fruits this year as compared to the past year, with Kandahar exporting 59,000 tons of fruits worth USD 68mn.

“Based on our reports, Kandahar has exported more than 59,000 tons of fruits valued at USD 68mn,” said he Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) deputy chief Khan Jan Alokozay .

A number of economic analysts called on the government to establish centers for standard packaging and cold storage facilities in order to further boost Afghanistan’s exports.

Meanwhile, ACCI has voiced concerns about the fall of fruits exports next year, if the government fails to address the challenges facing the export industry.
