Multi-media training for Afghan women launched

Females during camera trainingSwedish Committee for Afghanistan is funding a 6 month multi-media training project in Balkh province in order to equip females with photography and film making skills.

Tolo Services and Cultural Organization (TSCO), is implementing this project, which is funded by SCA.

Mohsin Zia Ayoubi, Director of TSCO says “this training is useful for the young females as these females upon completion of the training will support their families financially. They will film different social events where Afghan community is not allowing male cameramen and film makers. These female filmmakers and camerawomen will capture the gatherings i.e. family gatherings, celebration of birth days and wedding anniversaries.”

Twenty females hailing from different areas of the province have been enrolled in the training program. The training project started on 1st of March will conclude on 30th of August this year.

Females participating in the training will learn designing and developing magazine, banners, posters, film making and editing including other graphic requirements.

It merits mentioning that back in 2010, TSCO had implemented SCA funded vocational projects of bag making, wool spinning and soap making.
