New buildings constructed for Balkh high schools

balkhConstruction of new buildings for the two high schools in Balkh has been completed with financial collaboration from the UN Habitat, UNICEF and local residents.

The Seikh Mohammad Siddque High School building was built at a cost of USD 150,000, which had been provided by the UN-Habitat, with local residents contributing 25,000 AFN.

Built at a cost of USD 245,000, the building for Ghulam Mohammad Maimangi High School was funded jointly by UNICEF and UN-Habitat, with 20% of the cost provided by local residents.

According to the Pajhwok Afghan News, Balkh has 504 schools where 10,199 teachers impart education to 54,0178 pupils, including 22,8812 females.
