Newly established hydropower project benefits 120 Afghan families

hydropowerA newly executed hydropower project produces electricity to 120 families in Balkhab district of Sar-e-Pul province.

With a power generation capacity of 20 kilowatts, the hydropower network was completed in 3 months.

“The USD 100,000 project is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID),” said Sayed Ali Sina, the project controller.

Ali Sina added that the households were charged 5 AFN per KW and the generated revenue would go towards maintenance of the micro-hydropower plant.
