Opening of several public service projects in Herat

Officials from the Department of Rural Development and Rehabilitation in Herat informed of the opening of 10 public service projects in the district of Guzrah and Injil.

The projects include building of 3 schools, 3 cultural complexes, one public bath and one irrigation network.

The Head of the Department Mohammad Sediqi said that the projects, standing at a cost of 23 million AFN, are completed by the Ministry of Rural Development and Rehabilitation, with 10% participation of people through the National Solidarity Programs.

More than 3,000 families would benefit from these projects, according to Mr. Sediqi.

Work on the projects commenced three years ago, and the projects were inaugurated on Monday.

Herat’s Education Deputy Minister Azizul Rahman said that more than 10,000 students are now provided with standard classrooms through the newly built schools. The operation of the three projects is an important step for allowing residents in remote areas of the country to have access to education.

The Department of Rural Development and Rehabilitation expand and develop their projects in villages all across the country with collaboration from National Solidarity Program, National Program of Rural Roads, National Water Supply and Environmental Sanitation, National Program for Regional Development, National Program for Rural Industrialization, and National Program for Social Security and Vulnerability Monitoring.

Meanwhile, officials from the Department of Rural Development and Rehabilitation say that almost 150 public service projects have been launched in various areas of Herat since the past two months.
