President Ghani Meets German Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development

Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, President of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, met in his office with Gerd Müller, German Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development.

Expressing optimism about the future of Afghanistan under the leadership of the new government, Minister Müller said, “The measures taken for the formation of the new Afghan government and for the development of Afghanistan economy have once again created hope in Germany and the Europe to the future of this country.” Mr. Müller also reminded that next year will mark one century of the Afghan-German cooperation.

In return, the President said that the 100th anniversary of Afghan-German cooperation has to be celebrated.

Thanking Germany for its cooperation to Afghanistan, President Ghani said Afghanistan attaches high importance to its relationship with Germany.

The two sides further discussed Germany’s technical cooperation with Afghanistan in areas such as water, energy, and economics, particularly improvement of the women economic conditions.

At the end, it was decided that the assigned delegations of both countries seek the ways turning the commitments into action.
