haysomDeputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary General for Political Affairs in Afghanistan Nicholas Haysom emphasized on the importance of elections in Afghanistan at the International conference on “Afghanistan- 2014: Prospects of Development of Situation, Security Challenges and Threats for Central Asia in Connection with International Security Assistance Force Withdrawal.”

According to the official, elections in Afghanistan require financial support to fill the gap in the country’s economy.

“We need to strengthen security in the country. If the political transition fails, it will affect the level of security, the investment climate and the economy as a whole,” AKI Press quotes Nicholas Haysom said.
