Two defendants of Kabul Bank scandal receive prison sentence

Kabul BankKabul Bank’s former chairman Sherkhan Farnood and former Chief executive Khalil Ferozi receive a 5 year prison sentence in today’s hearing of the case.

Twenty other former employees of the bank have also been involved in the scandal.

Kabul Bank collapsed in 2010 after more than $850 million was wiped from the accounts in fraudulent loans and insider dealings. Attempts to recover the funds are ongoing.
