Watermelon production up by 5% in Farah province

Afghan Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) has reported that watermelon production has increased by 5% this year.

According to the officials, watermelon crops could reach a total of 578,000 tons this year which would generate an estimated four billion Afghanis in revenue for the province.

The officials have linked the boost in production to favorable climate conditions and high yielding farms in Farah.
