An agricultural research farm in Helmand province is being renovated at a total cost of USD 35mn.

Funded by the World Bank, the Bolan Research Farm is located in Lashkargah, the provincial capital.

The research farm was founded 52 years ago and has developed different types of fruit orchards and trial plots for wheat crops and improved seeds production on 13 acres of land.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony on Thursday, Agriculture Director Hafizullah Shah Noori said the project also included fruit storage and processing facilities and improving vegetable seeds and fruit seeds.

A retaining wall around the 141.5-acre farm, water wells, four canals, 30 water regulatory gates, and graveling of roads inside the farm would also be established in one year.
