Apple to bring new iPad to China

Apple will start selling the new iPad in China on 20 July after the settlement of trademark dispute with China’s Proview.

Apple agreed to pay $60m (£38m) earlier this month to Chinese firm Proview, which claimed it had registered the name in 2000.

Sales of Apple iPad were banned in China due to the dispute and the products were taken off the shelves in some parts of China.

China is Apple’s second biggest market for its products.

With the high demand of the product in the region, Apple said the new iPad would be available for purchase by reservation at the Apple retail stores. It would be also available at authorized resellers and the Apple online store.

Last year, the release of the iPhone 4S resulted in big chaos, as the long queue of customers waiting at the Apple stores started throwing eggs and scuffles at a store in Beijing.
