Investment by foreign companies has created more than 66,000 jobs in the United Kingdom with more than half of the investment made in energy or infrastructure schemes.
According to report, UK’s investment rose 8% to a record level of 975bn GBP and resulted in creation of 66,390 new jobs, the highest total since 2001.
More than of the investments were by US, Japan, France and Germany.
These figures come just before the 2014 Commonwealth Games Business Summit, which begin this week in Glasgow.
Prime Minister David Cameron said the Summit will pave the way for further investment growth as ministers will highlight opportunities to back new projects worth 15bn GBP.
Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Danny Alexander, announced plans to attract investment for 14 individual schemes this week, including 3 offshore win farms in Scotland and the Circuit of Wales, a proposed motor racing track in Blaenau Gwent.
