The Afghan Football Club recorded its second consecutive title win in Women’s Football Premier League in Kabul.
The defending champion defeated Maihan Football Club 4-0 in the final match of season 2 of Women’s Premier League.
Afghan Football Club defeated Istiqlal in the first season of Women’s Premier League last year.
A number of Women’s National Football Team players were playing in Afghan and Maihan Football Clubs, which helped them to defeat the other football clubs and appear in the final match.
The second season of Women’s Premier League started 17 days ago in capital Kabul where eight football clubs contested for the championship in two groups.
Head of the Women’s Committee in Football Federation of Afghanistan, Hajra Abul Fazal, said the main purpose of Women’s Premier League is to pave the way for the organization of professional matches for the women.
She said the Women’s Premier League has encouraged more female athletes to participate in football matches, besides encouraging the families of the athletes in sports.
The Women’s Committee started work in Afghanistan Football Federation in 2003 with only two teams; however, the committee has managed to encourage more female athletes in football sport.
The committee has also expanded its activities in other provinces of Afghanistan including Balkh, Herat and Sar-e-Pul provinces.
