Afghan Teen Football Team Heads to AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers

Afghan teen football[1]Afghanistan’s National Football Teenage Team left Kabul on Sunday to travel to Nepal for the Asian Federation Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup qualifiers.

Afghanistan will face Nepal, Tajikistan and Bhutan in Group C for its qualifying bout – the first match will be against Nepal on Tuesday.

The international competition involves 46 countries’ football teams – 16 will go through the AFC Asian Cup.

The Afghan national teen team has sent 20 players to compete with high expectations that they will succeed, given they are one of the strongest teams in the region.

“The players are ready for the competition. They have trained very well in the past six months and I hope to we go to the AFC Cup,” the national teen football coach Mohammad Zahir Hassani told TOLOnews.

“We are trained very well. I hope that we can get a great result in the competition and we are going to win,” said one of the players.

The winning team of the AFC Asian Cup becomes the champion of Asia and automatically qualifies for the FIFA Confederations Cup.

The Asian Cup has been held once every four years since 1956 where it was first played in Hong Kong. (Tolo News)
