The Asian Cricket Council recently announced the winners of the Asia Region winners of the Pepsi ICC Development Program Annual Awards.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board has taken out two of the regional awards: the Best Overall Cricket Development Program and the Best Junior Participation Initiative.
The awards were established to recognize exceptional performance and service to the game of cricket in Associate and Affiliate member countries.
Afghanistan will now join winners from the 4 other ICC Regions at the ICC Global Awards later in the year.
The Best Overall Cricket Development Program Award recognizes excellence in governance, management, cricket operations and participation. In winning this award at the regional level the ACB is recognized as a high performing national cricket body with an excellent national cricket pathway that caters for senior and junior players, both male and female.
The Best Junior Participation Initiative Award recognizes the ACB’s development of School Cricket in Afghanistan in collaboration with the Ministry of Education. This development has seen the introduction of cricket into the curriculum of all Afghanistan schools. It will give young players the opportunity to learn and play cricket at the school level and in organized competitions. It will, therefore, enhance the long term development and viability of cricket within the whole country.

We are confident that our the achievements reflected in these two awards will be make us potential winners at the ICC Global Awards later in the year.”
