Afghanistan qualifies for 2015 Cricket World Cup after defeating Kenya

afg vs kenyaThe Afghan National Cricket Team qualified for the 2015 Cricket World Cup, after defeating Kenya in the last match of the World Cup qualifying round held in Sharjah on Friday. Afghanistan created history by qualifying for the World Cup.

The Kenyan team won the toss and elected to bat first. The Kenyan players played 43 overs to set a target of 94 runs for the Afghan team. The Afghan players reached the target in the 27th over and made its way into the 2015 Cricket World Cup.

Following the team’s victory over Kenya, people across Afghanistan came on to the streets to celebrate the historic moment. The citizens expressed hope saying that Afghanistan will win the World Cup in 2015.

Meanwhile, President Karzai also congratulated the citizens on the historic win and expressed hope that in the future our players will win more laurels and make the nation proud. .

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) appreciated the National Team’s efforts and encouraged the players to win the World Cup.

“We played T20 World Cup matches twice. This time, we made our way into the World Cup and it is a great moment for us,” said Shahzada Masoud, the head of the ACB.
