Recently, a tournament was held by 13 ‘A’ grade teams in Kandahar. Ahmad Shah Baba faced its rival Itifaq in the final and took the trophy home with a 3-2 victory.  Ahmad Shah Baba held the first position followed by Itifaq and Breshna in the second and third position, respectively.

Chief of the Athletic Department, Mohammadullah Gulalai, in southern Kandahar province said that the championship was named “Winter Campaigns” with an aim to select better players from Kandahar soccer teams.

Team leader of Ahmadshah Baba Soccer Team, Abdul Sami, while celebrating the vicotry of his team said that the National Olympics officials do not pay much attention to Kandahar soccer teams and criticized the Olympics officials for not selecting athletes from Kandahar province into the Afghan National Soccer Team.

He also urged the provincial governor officials to assist Kandahar athletes with arranging the same facilities and rights as given to other athletes in the capital Kabul and other provinces of Afghanistan.

In the meantime, the officials announced they are planning to arrange soccer championships among the provinces of Afghanistan by next year.
