15% boost in rice yield in Takhar province

riceOfficials of Agriculture and Livestock Department in Takhar province have reported that the farmers have expected a 15% rise in rice yield.

Head of the department Sayed Ahmad Musamim attributed the high yield to the abundance of water available for farmers.

“Rice was grown on about 38,000 hectares of land, from which almost 150,000 tons of rice has been produced,” said Musamim.

Meanwhile, a number of farmers said rice cultivation required hard work and expressed concerns about the low selling price of rice in the market.
