The United States Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) funded the construction of a new 28km road in the Qarghayee district of Laghman province.

The inaugural ceremony was launched on Wednesday.

The road links the Daronta dam in Jalalabad with Charbagh and Mandror bazaars and costs about USD 8.3 million.

Local council head, Haji Shah Mard Khan, said the project took one year to complete and security for it was provided by locals.
