Afghan Central Bank Chief calls for immediate approval of Anti-Money Laundering Law

launderingAfghan Central Bank Chief, Norullah Delawari, called on the senate for the immediate approval of the Anti-Money Laundering Law.

This comes as the Financial Action Task Force(FATF) meeting is held on June 22nd in Paris, where decision on Afghanistan’s blacklisting will be made.

Delawari stressed that if the laws were not passed, Afghanistan would be blacklisted.

“We will have to be in the meeting with the approved law to prevent Afghanistan from being blacklisted,” said Delawari.

The Senate has claimed to bring changes to the law, which the Lower House approved on Monday, to ensure the nation’s interest is not at risk.
