Afghan government problems to be addressed through IT solutions

DEWAEThe Ministry of Communication and Information Technology MCIT) has launched DEWAE-Innovation Support Program that awards participants for innovation solutions in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

The winners receive cash prizes ranging from USD 2000 to USD 80,000.

The aim of the program is to address the challenges faced in delivering government services efficiently and effectively and to come up with solutions to help the government deliver quality services on time.

The DEWAE has announced challenges and is awaiting to receive proposals for Innovative Ideas and Practices (Full Implementation Proposal) to address these challenges.

These challenges are open for competition from May 25, 2013 till June 25, 2013.

Funded by the World Bank, the program will be implemented and managed by the Afghanistan Information Management Services (AIMS) who has contracted with the MCIT.

The program will run for three years and will give away 200 awards.

There will be four categories under which the awards will be provided: Mobile Government, Mobile Technology, Young Technologist and Innovators (Student), and ICT Champion Awards.
