leather[1] By Mohammad Naeem: Afghan leather handicraftsmen have called on the government for support and supplying of facilities to develop their industry.

These handicraftsmen, in an exhibition of their hand-made leather products, complained about the Afghan government for not being supportive and said that the leather industry once was very famous and productive in the past, but recently because of lack of support from the government, the industry is on the verge of collapse.

In this exhibition, which was organized by the National Entrepreneurs Association, more than 100 leather making factories had put their products on display and the exhibition was to mark the 94th anniversary of Afghanistan Independence Day. The exhibition was aimed at introducing Afghan leather products and drawing attention of the government.

The officials from the Ministry of Commerce, who attended the event, asked the handicraftsmen to make quality products so that both local and international customers buy their products. In addition, these officials promised to help the leather industry and try to find international markets for their products.
