Afghan ministers summoned by the Senate

Finance, Commerce and Economics Ministers were summoned to the National Assembly on 22 May 2012  to address the issue of the lagging economy of Afghanistan.

Afghan Senators expressed their concern regarding economic situation of Afghanistan. “Afghanistan has not reached the targeted stage of economy, despite the inflow of billions of funds from the world community,” said Mr. Abdul Wahab Urfani, a member of the Upper House.

The existing corruption in governmental organizations was considered to be the main reason for existing problems in the economy of Afghanistan.

Now that once again the world has pledged 4.1 USD aid for training and mobilization of Afghan National Army, the Ministers must tackle the problem currently hindering economic development in order for the country to stand on its own feet economically.

The ministers emphasized that the past mistakes should not be repeated again.
