Afghan MPs gift their 3-day salary to the National Football Team

Afghan Parliamentarians have announced to gift their three-day salary to the Afghan National Football Team after bringing home the first championship cup, the South Asian Football Federation cup.
While the Speaker of the Lower House Abdul Raouf Ibrahiimi gifted his one month salary, the rest of the Afghan Lawmakers will gift their three-day salary, which will amount to 3 million Afghanis.
“Our National Football Team showed a new face of Afghanistan to the world. They have brought unity among our people and they should be supported in every possible way,” said MP Ramazan Jomazada.
“The team by winning the championship showed to the world that Afghans are tired of war and want peace. These heroes should be supported in every possible way,” said MP Shekiba Hashimi.
The MPs also requested the National Assembly to insert the day 11 September in calendar as a historical day, so that the victory is remembered every year.
